01 / The short version

We keep what you type, because that is how John remembers your business. We send your conversations to Anthropic so John can reply. Stripe — or Apple, in the iPhone app — handles payment and we never see your card number. We do not sell your data. Ask us and we delete it.

02 / What we collect

Here is everything.

From Google or Apple, when you sign in

Your name, your email address, and (from Google) your profile picture. Apple lets you hide your real email — if you do, we get the relay address Apple makes for you. If you sign in with your email instead, we collect just that address.

From you, as you use the app

Your messages to John and his replies, plus the projects, people, notes, homework and checkpoints that get filed out of those conversations.

A few marks of your own progress

We note when you reached a handful of milestones — signing up, finishing your first piece of homework, starting a membership — so we can see whether the product is working. It is a short list of dates against your account, nothing about what you wrote, and it is deleted with everything else.

What you send the help desk

If you report a problem or suggest something, we keep what you wrote and our answer. Someone on our team reads it — that is the only way to reply. It sits against your account, it comes out in your download, and it is deleted with everything else.

Your time zone

Your browser tells us which time zone you are in, and we keep it. It is how we see, roughly, where our members are. A time zone covers a wide band of the earth. We do not store your IP address, and the app never asks your device for your location.

We do not ask for your phone number. The time zone above is the only piece of a location we hold. Stripe asks for your billing address at checkout, and we look at the country on it to keep sales to the United States and Canada — we do not keep it. We do not buy data about you from anyone else. If you joined the waiting list before we opened where you live, we hold the email address and country you gave us there until you ask us not to.

03 / Where it is kept

Your data sits in a Postgres database run by our hosting provider, Render, on servers in the United States. It is encrypted where it is stored and encrypted while it travels between your phone and us.

04 / Who else sees it

These companies help run Leaders Lab. Each one gets only what it needs.

Anthropic — writing the replies

Your message goes to Anthropic’s API so John can answer — and so does the notebook he keeps on your business: your numbers, your people and the notes about them, your projects and your homework. That is how he remembers you between conversations, so it goes with every message, including the parts you typed into a form rather than said to him. Anthropic may use what we send only to run the service for us, under commercial terms that protect it the way this policy does. It does not train its models on data sent through its API by default, and holds a copy for a limited period on its own side before it ages out.

Stripe — taking the payment

Stripe collects your card details and charges you, and we give it your name and email address so it can find you and send your receipt. We never see your card number. What we store is the ids Stripe gives us and whether your membership is running. Stripe also asks for your billing address. We look at the country on it — that is how we keep sales to the United States and Canada — and we do not keep the rest.

Apple — paying inside the iPhone app

If you subscribe inside the Leaders Lab app on iPhone, Apple takes the payment. We never see your card or your Apple account. Apple sends us a signed receipt with a transaction number and whether the membership is running, and that is what we store. Apple’s privacy policy covers what Apple keeps.

Google or Apple — signing you in

Whichever one you choose checks that you are you. We receive your name and email, and from Google a picture. Neither one receives your notebook.

Resend — delivering the sign-in email

When you sign in by email, Resend carries the six-digit code to your inbox. It sees your email address and the code itself — never your notebook.

Render — hosting

Render runs our servers and the database where everything above lives, encrypted, in the United States.

05 / What we do not do

We do not sell your data. We do not rent it or trade it. We do not run ads. We do not load advertising or analytics trackers into the app.

06 / Cookies

A few cookies, and only for signing in — block them and you cannot stay logged in. No tracking cookies, no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies. The app also saves your light-or-dark choice on your own device, which never reaches us.

07 / Deleting things

You can delete a project, a person, a session, a piece of homework or a checkpoint from inside the app. When you do, the record is removed from the database.

To delete your whole account and everything in it, open Settings and choose Delete your account. It happens right away. If you have a membership billed by Stripe, it is cancelled first, so you are not billed again. If you pay through Apple, cancel that subscription in your Apple account too — Apple runs it, and we cannot cancel it for you.

You can also email help@leaderslab.app from the address you signed up with. We honour that request, and we do it within two business days.

08 / How long we keep it

While your account is open, we keep your notebook — that is the whole point of it. John cannot remember what he no longer has.

Cancelling your membership does not delete anything. Your notebook stays, and if you come back it is all still there.

When you delete your account, we delete everything in it — your business, your people, your projects, your homework and every conversation. It is gone from our live database straight away, and gone from our encrypted backups within 30 days as those roll over.

Four honest footnotes. Short fragments of text can sit in our server logs for a while, and Anthropic holds its own copy of what was sent to it. Both age out on roughly the same 30-day timescale, and neither is something we can reach into and delete on the day you ask. Stripe also keeps the payment records the law makes it keep — your name, email and charge history. Your card number was never ours to delete; only Stripe ever had it. And we keep a one-way fingerprint of the email address, so free days cannot be reset by deleting an account and signing up again. It cannot be turned back into your address, and it holds nothing you wrote.

09 / Security

Every request for your data is checked against your signed-in account, so one customer cannot read another customer’s notebook.

Our own team is held to the same line. The screen we use to run Leaders Lab shows counts, dates and account status. It never shows your notebook, your projects, or anything you said to John. The one thing of yours it does show is a message you sent our help desk, because someone has to read it to answer you — that is the exhibit above.

Opening an actual notebook takes a separate permission that only the owner’s own account can hold, and every time it happens we record who looked, at which account, and when. Each person on the team is given only the parts of that screen they need, and nothing else loads for them.

We are not going to claim things on this page that we have not tested. We hold no security certification and we are not implying one. If you need specific security answers for a procurement review, email us and we will answer honestly.

10 / Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask to see the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email help@leaderslab.app and we will do it.

Leaders Lab is sold in the United States and Canada only. We are not set up to take customers in the UK or the EU yet, and we would rather say that than pretend we can meet rules we have not built for. If you are somewhere else and you want this, tell us on the waiting list and we will write when we open there.

11 / Children

Leaders Lab is for people running a business. It is not for children. You must be at least 18 years old.

12 / If this page changes

We will email you before a change that affects how your data is used. We will not quietly widen what we do with it.

13 / Contact

Email help@leaderslab.app. Mail to that address reaches us through a forwarding service, Forward Email, and lands in a mailbox run by Google.
